Mount
Everest

Tenzing Norgay in 1953.

It is said that K2 is the second highest peak in the world.

Kangchenjunga
It is considered the third highest mountain peak in the
world. It is located on the border between India and Nepal. It has an elevation
of 8586 meters. It is located 125 km from the Mount Everest and is second
highest mountain in Himalayas. The first successful climb on this peak was done
by Joe Brown and George Brand in 1955.
Lhotse
Lhotse is the fourth highest peak in the world. Its
elevation is 8516 meters. It is near the Mount Everest and it is forms part of
the Mount Everest massif. Its summit is
located between the Khumbu region of Tibet and Nepal. A Swiss team made up of
Ernst Reiss and Fritz Luchsinger was first climbed to Lhotse in 1956.
Makalu
Makalu is the fifth highest peak in the world with an
elevation of 8485 meters. It is situated 19 km in south east on Mount Everest.
It is located on the border between China and Nepal. It is notable peak due to
its iconic pyramid shape. It was first summited successfully by Lionel Terray
and Jean Couzy in 1955. An interesting fact about Makalu is that it is the most
difficult peak for climbers due to its Knife-edge ridges and paint-filling
steep sections.
Cho Oyu
Officially, Cho Oyu is the sixth
highest peak in the world. Its elevation is about 8188 meters. Cho Oyu is
considered as easiest mountain to climb due to its moderate slopes. It stands
on the Nepalese-Chinese border. The first successful climb on the Cho Oyu was
done by Austrians Joseph Jochler and Herbert Tichy in 1954.
Dhaulagiri
Dhaulagiri is 8167 meters high
from the sea level. It is the seventh highest peak in the world located in
Nepal. It was first summited by Swiss, Austrians and Nepalese effort in 1960.
Dhaulagiri was considered as the world’s highest peak in 1808 in record books. When
Kangchenjunga took the top spot in 1838, after this the Mount Everest was
number one in 1858 officially.
Manaslu
Manaslu is officially considered
the eighth highest peak in the world. It can be found in the west central part
of the Nepal. It has a summit situated 8163 meters high from the sea level. The
first successful ascent of Manaslu was done by Japanese climber Toshio Imanishi
and Nepalese climber Sherpa Gyalzen Norbu in 1956. Japan claims that Manaslu as
their own peak.
Nanga Parbat
Nanga parbat is the ninth highest
peak in the world. Its summit is 8126 meters high from the sea level. It is situated in Gilgit-Baltistan region. It
is located at the westernmost point in the Himalayas. Hermann Buhl who was the
part of Austrian German team become the first man to ascend Nanga Parbat in
1953. It is labeled as killer mountain due to its dangerous and horrible ups
and downs.
Annapurna
It is actually a massif in the Himalayas
comprising of 30 mountains over the 6000 meters. It is considered in the list
of most dangerous mountains to climb due its extreme temperature and horrible
and nail-like stones. Its elevation is about 8000 meters from the sea level.
